1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files stored on a browser or device when a website is visited. Similar technologies, including local storage, may be used to maintain sessions, remember preferences, prevent abuse, measure use or support third-party functionality.
2. Cookie categories
Strictly necessary
These technologies are required for functions such as authentication, account security, session management, CSRF protection, fraud prevention and delivery of services requested by the user. They remain active because the website cannot provide the relevant secure functions without them.
Functional
These technologies remember optional preferences or enable additional website functionality. Where consent is required, they remain disabled until the user chooses to enable them.
Analytics
Analytics technologies help Energio understand how the website is used and improve performance. Analytics will not load before the required consent has been obtained.
Marketing
Marketing or advertising technologies, if introduced, will remain disabled until the user has given the required consent.
3. Consent controls
The Energio consent panel provides Accept all, Reject non-essential and Manage preferences choices. Rejecting optional technologies is intended to be as straightforward as accepting them. The permanent Cookie settings control in the website footer allows users to review or change their choices later.
4. No non-essential tracking before consent
Non-essential functional, analytics, marketing and similar technologies are not activated before the relevant consent has been recorded. This release does not enable advertising cookies or optional analytics.
5. reCAPTCHA and anti-abuse services
Selected public forms use Google reCAPTCHA v3 to help detect automated abuse. reCAPTCHA is treated as a security/anti-abuse function and is requested only on protected form flows when required. Google may process technical information such as IP address, browser information and interaction/security signals and may use cookies or similar technologies under its own terms and privacy practices.
6. Managing and withdrawing consent
Users can change optional cookie choices at any time through the Cookie settings control in the footer. Browser settings may also allow users to block or delete cookies, although blocking strictly necessary cookies can prevent secure account functions from working correctly.

This schedule describes the technologies intentionally configured by Energio in this release. It should be checked against a production browser/cookie scan after deployment and updated if providers or scripts change.
8. Changes to this policy
Energio may update this Cookie Policy when website functionality, providers or applicable legal requirements change. The current version and revision date will be published on Energio.ie.
